Modern day adaptation of Rapunzel
Once upon a time, there was a wonderful couple who
longed for a child but had not been successful in getting one. After several
trips to the hospital, the doctors discovered that Judith's womb had a problem,
they advised her to undergo surgery to rectify the problem, and soon she became
pregnant. She had cravings for ice-cream and would wake up at the wee hours of
the night to eat it, one day she woke up and found that the ice-cream she had kept
in the refrigerator was over. She sent her husband to ask for some from their
neighbor; Mrs.Doubtfire since the nearest supermarket was several miles away.
Upon hearing his request she gave him a scoop of her vanilla ice-cream and
added a little sedative. She liked the ice-cream so much and the secret
ingredient; the sedative helped to calm Judith’s nerves and soon she was fast
asleep. When Judith gave birth, Mrs.Doubtfire loved the baby so much that she stole
her from her parents and went into hiding. There was a police detective who
began investigations into the matter but it was several years that he found
her. Following the detective’s discovery that Rapunzel had been kept hidden
in the west side mansions, he planned a rescue with the police, and
Mrs.Doubtfire was arrested and charged for kidnapping to show that justice
delayed is not justice denied.
Rapunzel
was gifted in singing and Mrs.Doubfire often allowed her to perform in church
and that is where she met Tom the detective who would later save her life. A
relationship began between them but Mrs.Doubtfire did not approve since he was
mature for her. Rapunzel would sneak to go meet him and they would go to the
cinema when she was away at work. One day she came home unexpectedly and
discovered Rapunzel was not in the house. Consumed with anger that she had
disobeyed her, she waited for her return. A confrontation ensued between them
and she pushed Rapunzel so hard that she hit her head on the wall suffering a
concussion. It was the hospital that had the police investigate the matter and
Tom was assigned to the case. His investigation led him into the cold case of a
kidnapping of a Montana child. He sought the parents who had reported the case
and found out that the parents had separated soon after the kidnapping but had
not remarried. He brought them in for questioning and after a DNA test was
conducted, it was established that she was their long lost daughter. The joy of
having their daughter back after so many years saw the parents reunited and
they rekindled their love. They allowed Tom to court their daughter and they
got married several years later. Mrs.Doubtfire was found guilty of several
counts including mistreatments, today she languishes in the county jail with
twenty years to go. It serves to say that a crime committed can never go
unpunished and that one cannot dispute the power of fate.
