IRONY
They stood at the train terminus, Tony was anxious to get rid of John, he was nice but an irritating person who always made crude remarks. There were many people at the terminus and they had to scurry through to get a space. Tony was escorting John but was the one who ended up boarding it and John sheepily waving at the platform. It was Tony who realized the first what had happened and slapped himself, he had to cover 300 miles before he disembarked.There was a man on the train in his thirties ,he looked disheveled and kept looking at Tony as if trying to find the right words to say. Tony ignored him and tried to look at his watch to get the time except there was no watch. The watch is a tool of time destruction very few people realize it .He had to be at the supermarket with his mother, their routine of the week. She depended on his judgement even when he did not trust himself, so when the phone rang Tony knew it was her.
“Hello, What the hell, Tony where are you, you are so lousy with time”. His mother began. “Sorry mum am on the train, I mistakenly boarded it”, He replied. “You are dumb as shit, there are only three things that are dumb; a blind man who thinks everyone is blind, a stupid chef who thinks his meal is the best and a soldier who thinks he is fighting for the common good, which are you my son? (List of three) “Mum, stop saying that, am coming we will meet there”, He replied.




The disheveled man had somehow discovered Tony was not alien and could talk, so he looked at him and pointed outside the window. Tony looked but could not see anything, so he stood up and went to him. “Have you ever wondered why trees do not kick ass? I wish they could then they would discover how hard they are .Tony did not know how to answer him, he looked insane so he chose to look away. He continued anyway as if Tony was just a wall. “I don’t know anything else but what I know is that trees are supposed to give life yet they allow us to be buried next to them? This man was strange for his liking, Tony shook his head and headed back to his seat. As he sat down, he wondered about the irony of life; how life is a journey that takes everyone in whether interested or not. It throws everyone in it like baggage in a can .He likened it to fire that was ready to burn anyone stupid enough to put it in their mouth, He looked out of the train and sighed heavily.
He heard the train come to a stop that was his exit, so he hurried to disembark and there on the platform was his friend John, laughing himself silly. Tony ignored him and walked away with John tugging at me like a child who did not want to be left out of a trip. What Tony could not allow is someone to make a mockery of him, he decided he would rather walk to a circus and be a clown .

               I must confess growing up was tough under the umbrella of my dad. We called him Dad, but he was referred to as Mzee Nyakenyanya, the tough man.
