A COMMODITY SO RARE

A cart carrying  salty water that goes for Ksh15 for one "Mtungi" in Malili

A commodity so fresh yet rare,

Leaves unfulfilled promises,

A longing that can be met,

By just a drop.

Long trips must be made,

Day in day out,

For just a glimpse,

Of a tap running.

You must spend to get it,

You must line up to get it,

You must be patient to get it,

You must carry it to enjoy it.

Malili a town so dear,

Next to a promising Konza City,

Yet water remains so rare,

Nine years of waiting for Vision 2030.

Water, Water,
Water, Water,

Our lips are running dry,

From constant desire,

For this precious commodity,

To become available to every home.
